This hidden Tremont gem of a bar is Cleveland’s best kept secret! My first trip to Tony’s was over two years ago and ever since it has been my favorite bar. The drinks are ridiculously creative and delicious and the ambiance cannot be beat. The bar also serves individual pizzas and appetizers. It’s easy to miss and chances are if you’ve walked down Professor you’ve passed it and not even realized it was there!
The setting: an intimate, dark mahogany bar with a few high top tables and 8-10 bar stools. It’s quiet, romantic, and perfect for a date or catching up with old friends.
The drinks: hands down the best cocktail bar in Cleveland. And yes, it’s better than velvet tango room. They serve seasonal beverages, the classics, as well as beer and
wine and use the freshest all natural ingredients. My personal favorite is her Moscow mule, with fresh grated ginger giving the drink a fresh spicy zing. And, rumor has it her classic manhattan is out-of-this-world served with a preservative free maraschino cherry. Most recently (after a Moscow mule of course) I went with the “Dr. Zhivago” which consisted of stolichnaya vodka, house beet reduction, lillet rouge vermouth, fresh dill, and pickled pearl onions. WOW! The drink, served up, was a rich red from the beet reduction and the flavors of the beet, pickled onion and dill danced on your taste buds bursting with freshness. So delicious!!
The food: the pizzas are individual size, perfect for one dinner or great to share as a appetizer. Again, the ingredients taste fresh and flavors are high on a light bubbly airy dough. We shared two pizzas among four of us– Aphrodite with rosemary and honey which was a new combination of flavors to me but one I have since duplicated at home because it was quite tasty and a second pizza with basil, tomatoes, and mozzarella. Both pizzas were cooked to perfection and a perfect appetizer to start the night.
While the food is good– I will admit I go to Tony’s for the drinks.
